Golden Veil was the mother of Silver Guardian. Both resided in Canterlot, where Golden worked as a jewelry maker, and often did wonderful pieces for Princess Celestia, but was for the most part a mother trying to support her colt after her husband left her while she was pregnant with Silver.
She loved her son deeply, and despite being gone, still loved her husband. She was said to be a cheery, happy, and kindhearted mare and went out of her way to ensure her clients were satisfied with her craft. When she was off, she home-schooled Silver, considering he wasn't a unicorn and couldn't qualify to enroll in Princess Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, and the only other public school was all the way in Ponyville.
She never knew why her child wasn't an unicorn at birth, but sensed he still had unicorn magic in him but knew he would never be able to use it considering he was an earth pony, but didn't find that an issue as she was just happy to be with her child.
She passed away when Silver was an adolescent colt, due to an illness that even Canterlot's best doctors couldn't find a cure for. Leaving a heartbroken Silver, she tells him to not grieve for her for long and that he needs to be a strong pony, much like his father and then gave Silver her wedding band as a keepsake and a reminder that she would always watch over him and love him very much, and tells him that should he ever find his father out there in Equestria, to not hate him for leaving them and to let him know she still loved him dearly no matter what.
She then died peacefully after that, thus sparked Silver's resolve to become a guardian so that he could save the one he would care for, and not make the same mistake for not being able to save Golden.
Her coat is dark golden, with a dull yellow mane and tail, brown eyes, and had a cutie mark of an emerald colored gemstone over a golden 'V', likely to be based on a ring, considering her talent in jewelry making, as well as a nod to her name.
